We made a goal for 2019 that we wouldn’t watch any tv or play any video games until after 3pm on school days. I thought it would be a pretty difficult transition since we had been binging on the tv because we were sick and it was Christmas time, but it’s had an awesome unanticipated side affect – the boys are so bored that they beg me to do school! And there is no rushing through it because they can’t turn on the tv until 3 anyway. It has worked out so much better than I could have imagined.
We started school again yesterday, and our new plan has been awesome. Ever since I had Mason (before that too actually), Rhett has been a challenge during school. He wants to be in the middle of everything, but he doesn’t actually want to “do school.” He just doesn’t want Kender to get one-on-one time with Mommy. I tried sitting down and giving him one-on-one time first, but he just wasn’t super into our curriculum (The Good and The Beautiful Pre K). He wanted to do the same things Kender was doing, but they were obviously too advanced for him. I wasn’t sure what to do with him, but while we were on our Christmas break it dawned on me that maybe he needed something a little more challenging.
