Privacy, Terms, & Disclosure

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. It really means the world to me that other people enjoy the things that I have to share. I started this blog back in 2010 as a way to document precious moments of my growing family. I still mostly use it for this purpose (in addition to sharing our homeschool experiences), but I also have a few other goals in mind, and I feel it’s important to be honest and upfront with you about those goals.

Monetization – What’s with all the ads and links?

I have chosen to monetize this blog (AprilsHappyPlace.com) through affiliate links and display advertising. I love blogging, and with so many ways to monetize these days, it’s hard to not give it a try!

My husband currently works two jobs so that I can be a stay-at-home mom and homeschool our boys. I love that he is such a wonderful and willing provider and so supportive of my desire to educate our children in a safe and loving home environment. However, I also wish he was home more! We really like having him around, and we miss him when he works long hours.

Our family does most of our shopping on Amazon. The way I see it, I’m going to be linking to products I love on Amazon anyway, so they might as well be affiliate links!

I don’t expect to make a fortune from this little motherhood/homeschool blog, but seeing a few cents trickle in here and there helps me feel like I’m contributing. And who knows, maybe someday it will grow so that my husband won’t have to work two jobs. Heck, if I could just earn enough to pay for our homeschool curriculum and supplies I’d be satisfied!

Affiliate Links

So what is an affiliate link anyway?

When you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, I earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. The commission I earn is for recommending the product. I promise to only recommend products that I have actually tried, tested, and loved.

I am currently an affiliate for Amazon.com and WordPress.com.

Display Advertising

Display advertising works a little differently than affiliate marketing. The term “display advertising” refers to the ads you see on my site. For those, I get paid per 1000 impressions (an impression is when an ad is viewed once by a visitor). Again, this is at no additional cost to you. All you have to do is put up with seeing ads on my site. I try to keep them minimal and out of the way so you can still focus on my content. A pet peeve of mine is when beautiful blogs are littered with ads!
