A Tribute to Deputy Dreamy

My husband is a Deputy Sheriff. That means he works 11 hour shifts (sometimes longer) during which he puts his own life in danger to protect the innocent and uphold the law. He is a protector of justice. A modern-day warrior. He is brave, strong, loyal, and kind. I am so grateful for everything that he and his comrades do for our community every day. He exemplifies everything a good man should be.

#BecauseofHim (Easter 2018)

This year for Easter we did the same typical stuff (Easter egg hunts and Easter baskets and all that) with a few little changes. I tried to focus more on Christ than on the bunny, and I think it went over really well! Last year I bought a pre-made Easter basket from Walmart, which they played with for 5 minutes and swiftly forgot about. This year I actually did some research and got some ideas for how to have a Christ-Centered Easter, and how to make it fun.

Honeymoon Recap, Superman Undies, & Light the World Day 20

Today Google Photos showed me pictures from when Ryan and I went on our honeymoon, which apparently was 7 years ago today. It dawned on me that I don’t think I ever shared any of these pictures! We went to Leavenworth, WA for our honeymoon, and it was a Christmas wonderland. Snow and lights galore.

My bestie wrote “just married” all over Ryan’s truck in red lipstick.

This guy is famous in Leavenworth – He’s on their postcard & he plays this giant horn at breakfast time. I wish I could say more about him but that’s all I remember…

I can’t remember why there was a pretzel tree, but we must have enjoyed it lol. I do remember there being really great (but expensive) food there ♥

So much snow!

Someday we will go on an awesome second honeymoon. We’ve talked about going on a cruise, or possibly back to Leavenworth. But first I have to get brave enough to leave our babies for more than a few hours 😱

And here are a few memories from today:

Rhett attempted potty training for the first time today! He refused to wear his diaper and stayed dry in these superman undies for about 1.5 hours before having an accident. Not too bad! Mostly he just looks really cute in undies.

Light the World Day 20

Jesus taught:

“A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”

—Luke 12:15

Sometimes possessions distract us from appreciating the most important things in life. By eliminating these distractions, we can lead a more fulfilling life.

This one really rings true with me. There are SO many distractions in the world nowadays.

My favorite moments are the simple ones when we are just together. When Ryan and I sit by the Christmas tree and the boys climb up and join us for snuggles. Or in the evenings when Kender and I read together. Or when I’m sitting on the couch and Rhett walks up and says, “Mommy, can I have a hug?” Or when I’m doing the dishes and Ryan hugs me from behind. Yep, moments like those are the best ♥
