Ryan is home!
He’s going through police academy right now and is only home on weekends. We had another rough night with our baby last night and I was complaining to him about how tired I am. He said at the academy they’ve been talking a lot about how your thoughts influence your life. As a Man Thinketh is apparently a well-known essay that I’ve never read, but that’s what he said to me. He looked me in the eye and said, “as a man thinketh” and told me that if I tell myself that I’m too tired and can’t do it, then I won’t be able to. Instead, I have to say, “Yeah I’m tired, but I got enough sleep to function so I’m good.”
See why I married him? He is the yin to my yang. The positive to my negative. I am so thankful for him.
When I only get 2 hours of sleep at night, I have a terrible day when I tell myself over and over that I’m too tired to do anything. However, when I fight that urge and tell myself that I can do it and instead am grateful that I got any sleep at all, the world is a totally different place.
Granted, a lot of times positive thinking is easier said than done, especially if you’re like me and you struggle with a mood disorder. But don’t give up. Keep trekking on. Find what keeps you going, and focus on that. Most importantly, if you need help, get it.
