Conference Weekend

Today we had the pleasure of watching the LDS General Conference. It’s so uplifting to listen to the words of those great men and women, and I love feeling that sweet spirit in my home.

Kender has been a challenge lately. He had a pretty easy streak, so I can’t say I didn’t sense this was coming. We think he is getting the last of his baby teeth coming in. He for sure has all his K9s, and all his top teeth, but those last couple molars on the bottom are killer. All he wants to do is watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. He’ll wake up screaming, run to the computer, and scream until we turn it on. I remember the days when Ryan and I would say, “Gee, I wish Kender was one of those babies that will just sit and watch TV with us.” Oh, how we are eating those words. Normally he’s not quite that bad with the TV, so I’m hoping it’s just because he’s in pain from teething. All I know is that we are keeping him pumped full of Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the next couple of days.

Aside from his current state of never-ending tantrums, Kender has taken up climbing. He climbs onto the couch, into his stroller, into his high chair, into his toy box, and whatever else he can manage to hoist himself up and in to. Earlier today I was cleaning up the kitchen when I heard some strange sounds. When I peeked into the living room, I found this (watch video to the left).

Yep, our little guy is a wild one, and he makes me want to rip my hair out almost on a daily basis, but it’s all worth it when he lifts up my shirt so he can give my belly button a kiss. Or when he does things just to make me laugh. Or when he hugs me, or belly-laughs when I tickle him. Yeah, he’s definitely worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel like I need to say a little bit about little miss Roxy. She puts up with so much, and she is still so loving and patient. She’s a great role model for me! I used to give her a ton of affection, but then I had a baby and she took the backseat. The awesome part about that is that she’s totally ok with it! She LOVES Kender. She shares her toys with him, puts up with his chasing and yelling, and she walks up to him and begs for attention. She also sets limits for him. If she doesn’t like something he does, she’ll either leave, or slap him (not hard, and never with claws out). It took some time for him to get the whole “gentle” thing, but now that he has it down, they are great friends. Kender tries to pick her up, and it’s the cutest thing ever! It usually makes my day. Kender also pets all of his stuffed animals now, just like he pets Roxy. It’s adorable! And right now, we need all the adorable we can get.
